Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that fights bacteria. It is used to treat many different types of infection caused by bacteria, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, or urinary tract. It can also be used in combination with other drugs in the treatment of stomach ulcer caused by Helicobacter pylori.

- Allergies: Do not use this medication if you are allergic to amoxicillin or any other penicillin antibiotic (such as ampicillin, dicloxacillin, oxacillin, penicillin, or ticarcillin). If you are allergic to amoxicillin inform your doctor before using it.
- Duration of Use: Take this medication for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared.
- Viral Infections: Amoxicillin will not treat viral infections like the common cold or flu.
- Diarrhea: Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea. If you experience watery or bloody diarrhea while taking amoxicillin, stop using it and consult your doctor. Do not use anti-diarrhea medicine unless your doctor advises.
