ADCiprot-TN is a combination of Ciprofloxacin and tinidazole which are both medications used to treat various infections:
- Ciprofloxacin:
- Spectrum of Activity: It is effective against a wide range of gram-negative aerobic bacteria, including Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It also works against some gram-positive aerobic bacteria, including penicillinase-producing and non-penicillinase-producing Staphylococci. However, certain strains of Streptococci are relatively resistant to ciprofloxacin.
- Clinical Uses: It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as pharyngitis, otitis media, sinusitis, bronchitis and gonorrhea.
- Side Effects: Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Serious allergic reactions are rare.
- Tinidazole:
- Mechanism of Action: Tinidazole is a 5-nitroimidazole derivative with antimicrobial properties similar to metronidazole. It is active against both protozoa (such as Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolytica, and Giardia lamblia) and obligate anaerobic bacteria.
- Clinical Uses: It is used to treat infections caused by the mentioned protozoa and anaerobic bacteria.
